Top 10 April Fools Pranks

Top 10 April Fools Pranks

Caspian Quigley

Happy April Fools’ Day! For this April 1st, my article will be on the top 10 totally real, 100% legit April Fool’s Day pranks that absolutely did happen to me, ranked.

10. Birthday…? Party

Starting off at number 10, we have the time my whole family collaborated to throw me a surprise birthday party. I was born in February, but what made this even more confusing was that I have a twin sister who was not subject to the same prank.

9. Googly Eye Surprise

Next up on the list, one year, my parents decided to cover everything in the fridge with googly eyes. It was quite a bit of effort, though I’m sure it was worth it considering we found googly eyes on random expired cheeses for months afterwards.

8. Punny Weather

This list isn’t just about pranks I’ve fallen victim to. Once, I set out every single mug my family owned. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and mugs are a popular gift from students, so we have quite a mug collection. I laid mugs randomly all throughout the kitchen. Then, when my family came downstairs, I looked each of them dead in the eye as I sipped from a bowl and said, “It’s a bit muggy outside.”

7. The British Hoax

One year on April Fool’s, my younger brother and I managed to convince my twin sister that British people weren’t real. She was devastated – She’s always wanted to move to England.

6. BYOA

My first job was at an indie movie theater in my hometown. One April Fool’s morning, I walked in for the opening shift to see a real-life alpaca standing next to my coworker, Kyle. Apparently, our bosses had approved a traveling petting zoo to come in as an event, and it had just happened to be on April 1st

5. Cat…?

One year for April Fool’s, I decided to replace the family cat with a slightly different-looking cat to see if anyone would notice. Only, I ended up replacing her with one of those curly little white dogs instead. I hid her in my room, and my family only realized something was up a week and a half afterwards… Poor Nibbles.

4. Sister…?

The year after I swapped Nibbles out, I was inspired by my success. I wanted to try something bolder. I convinced my twin sister to go on a trip, managing to manipulate communications so that the rest of my family had no clue. After that, I replaced her with a super cool clone. It wasn’t very functional, obviously, but my family fell for it for a few days, and she got a vacation out of it, so no harm, no foul.

3. Arts and Crash

As an art major, I enjoy making things. One year, I wanted to try making something a little riskier. For April Fool’s, I ended up making a bunch of various art projects out of very minor explosives (think those pop rock fireworks). It was really funny each time they were unexpectedly set off. That was, until the Incident…

2. Horse-pital

One of the more wholesome April Fool’s Day pranks I’ve pulled would’ve been sneaking a horse into a hospital. Sure, it was plenty risky, but all the patients who weren’t trampled loved giving him pets and feeding him carrots.

1. Changeling

My all-time favorite April Fool’s prank was when my uncle stole a baby. He raised her for 18 years as his own, only to reveal on my “cousin’s” 18th birthday that it had all been an April Fool’s Day joke all along!

In Conclusion

All these pranks were hilarious, and of course, 100% did happen to me. Regardless, it’s always important to remember not to cause any actual harm when enacting April Fool’s jokes and try to avoid anything mean-spirited that may cause a strong emotional reaction. Stay safe and have fun!
