Lament

Lament

Robert Borman

Time did not heal the egregious wounds

That I so hatefully carved upon you

Only now do I see the torment

That I have long thoughtlessly wreaked

I numbed you with drink and cheer

Masking your cries with bittersweet laughter

And beat you to death in the night

But it is only now that I see

What horrors I visited upon your grace

Had torn my own soul to pieces

Brought to my knees, I silently weep

Hoping for you to start feeling again

To stitch you together from my malice

And beat with full passion once more.
