Loving and Losing

Loving and Losing

Bria Davis

Written by Hailey

I love you,

But where do I draw the line,

Between love and loss?

I love you,

But how do you turn a blind eye?

When you’d rather argue than reason.

I love you,

But how can I ignore your blinded morals?

All while you make your beliefs an excuse.

I love you,

But how can I ignore the hatred you hold,

Only for those different from you?

I love you,

But you caress your riches with more love,

Then my freedom.

I love you,

But while I struggle to survive you build an empire,

Through a system designed for your success.

I love you,

But not as dearly as myself,

For my ethics and morals,

My compassion and understanding,

For my yearning for education.

I love you,

But now seeing your absent love is not because of me,

I will love more,

In return for your loss,

Because love will always overpower hatred.
