One of my favorite things to do is sit down at my desk and spend hours playing anything I can get my hands on. But, have you ever thought about what it is that makes the games we play so engaging? The story can be great, the graphics incredible, and the mechanics super fun, but the unsung hero behind every awesome game is an even better soundtrack. I have spent hours listening, researching, and finding the best game soundtracks out there. Here are my top five. Content warning: You’ll get goosebumps.
Let’s Get Started!
1. Halo 3

Halo 3 is a FPS (first-person shooter) game that made its debut in 2007. The game remains fairly popular today, as well as the game’s iconic soundtrack. I know you’ve seen the video of the men vocalizing part of it in the elevator.
Personal favorites:
- This is the Hour
- Dread Intrusion
- Farthest Outpost
2. Detroit: Become Human

Detroit: Become Human is an incredible choice-based game with three separate storylines that occasionally cross with each other. The best part? There are three separate composers for each storyline, giving them their own unique feel
Personal favorites:
- Dark Night- Kara
- Kara Main Theme- Kara
- Father and Son- Markus
3. Titanfall 2

If you haven’t played Titanfall 2, you are seriously missing out. This game made me cry not once, but twice. The soundtrack and the storyline are incredibly immersive. Not to mention, Apex Legends fans, this takes place in the same universe. You’ll even see some familiar faces.
Personal favorites:
- Trust Me
- BT-7274
- Combat Efficiency Rating
4. God Of War

Personally, I have not played God Of War yet. However, when the sequel came out, I did not see my roommate for about three days. I’ve heard great things about the storyline but the soundtrack is so good that I would be satisfied to never play it.
Personal favorites:
- God of War
- Memories of Mother
- Helheim
5. Skyrim: The Elder Scrolls

Need I say more? It may not be my favorite album on this list, but Skyrim is so iconic that it had to be on the list anyway. With hours of gameplay that has been updated for various new consoles, it remains a wonderful game. Listening to this while lifting weights makes you feel like a warrior, by the way.
Personal favorites:
- Dragonborn
- Unbroken Road
- Silent Footsteps
If you’re into cool game soundtracks, definitely go listen to some of these! Feel free to leave a comment and let us know your thoughts.
